Bwin is rumoured to be close to sealing the deal with the Italian poker company which will allow it to expand its offerings into Europe. It has been claimed that Bwin will be completely taking over Gioco Digitale, buying 100 per cent of the company from the current shareholders.

Although there has been no official announcement that the deal has gone through, Bwin have confirmed that discussions are taking place in a press release today, with the following announcement:

“The Board of bwin Interactive Entertainment AG ("bwin") and Gioco Digitale S.p.A. ("Gioco Digitale") and its shareholders have agreed on principle terms for the acquisition of 100% of Gioco Digitale.

The parties are in the final stages of working on a sales and purchase agreement, however, there can be no certainty that a final binding agreement on the transaction will be reached.”

Should bwin secure the deal with Gioco Digitale, it will become the next in a line of internet gambling providers who are beginning a foray into international markets. UK online gaming providers PartyGaming and 888 are both also reported to be signing with European providers to increase their assets internationally.
