Asia Pacific Poker Tour Cebu Main Event
The PokerStars.net APPT Cebu Main Event is now underway at the Shangri-La's Mactan Resort and Spa.
Cebu Island is considered to be one of the finest islands in the Philippines and the Mactan Resort is covers a vast area of parkland and tropical gardens bounded by a third of a kilometre of private beaches with stunning views. As might be expected, this luxurious resort has much to offer including several swimming pools, a golf course, tennis courts, gym and a host of restaurants and bars; this weekend it also has poker, and lots of it.
In total there were 319 entries for the main event and there were representatives from twenty five countries. This is a record for the APPT which, given the location, is less than surprising.
Day 1a took place on the 11th November and started with 106 players. These included Poker Stars Team Asia professional players Raymond Wu, Daniel Schreiber, and Van Marcus. By the end of the day 56 players had been eliminated. The highest chi count was held by Terry Fan from Taipei with 158,500 chips. He was closely followed by Bold Uundai with 144,000 chips.
Day 1b took place on 12th November and started with 213 players and by the end of it 110 of them had gone. The chip leaders of day 1a maintained their lead but by a small margin. The top ten all had chip counts above 100,000.
Day 2 will take place on 13th November. The first prize is $158,000 and second is $108.000. There are also cash prizes for the top forty players and the total cash pool is in excess of $600,000.
