A previously unknown online poker player is winning a large number of online games at the moment. In the last few weeks he has won in excess of $6,000,000, but his identity remains a mystery. All that is known about him is that he is Swedish and goes by the online name of Isildur1.

He is not just cleaning up casual players, but he is taking on some of the top poker players in the world, and is beating them in nosebleed games. In fact he has just about destroyed everybody who has had the audacity to challenge him to a game.

Up until yesterday (16th November) he had played nearly $66,000 in fewer than two weeks. During this time he has taken around $3,000,000 off Tom Dwan, $1,500,000 off Patrik Antonius, nearly $1,000,000 off David Benyamine, and $500,000 off Ilari Sahamies.

It has not all been good for Isildur1. In fact when he started playing with this name in October he went down nearly $1,000,000. After that his playing style was analysed as careless and loose. He vanished from the scene for a week or so, only to return in early November, his playing style obviously improved.

Poker forum members throughout the world are posing the question “Who is Isildur1?” but nobody can supply the answer, though there has been a considerable amount of speculation.

A number of people think that his true identity is Viktor Blom; a Swedish professional whose usual online identity is Blom90, though there are others who say that they know that this is incorrect.

Whoever this poker phenomenon is, no doubt his or her identity will be revealed in due course. No doubt he is not the original Isildur, who was a character in Tolkien’s ‘Lord of the Rings’. Although initially successful, Isildur was caught in a cruel ambush by the Orcs of the Misty Mountains. He was fatally wounded and eventually perished.
