Anton Wigg id 22 years old and lives in Stockholm, Sweden. He qualified for the EPT through PokerStars.

The final heads up was with Francesco De Vivo of Italy who went on the collect the second prize of 2,275,000 DKK (£268,972). The heads up lasted three and three quarter hours during which time the lead changed on several occasions. De Vivo started the heads up as the chip leader, but his lead was hauled in and finally surpassed by Wigg. Wigg pulled ahead for a while but he lost it again following a single pot. Again coming from behind, he retook the lead only to lose it again. The third time he moved in front Wigg made it stick and finally took the title.

In the final hand De Vivo helde K-D; 10-S and Wigg had Ace-H; J-D. De Vivo went all in and Wigg called. The singularly unhelpful board was Q-H; 9-H; Q-D; 2-D; 8-H;  so Wigg’s Ace was enough to give him the title.

The day started with nine players rather than the usual eight. The was because for two hours after player number ten had been eliminated on Day 4, it looked as if a stalemate had been hit and play was halted until day five. Even when the nine resumed on Day 5 it was a further two hours before player nine Magnus Hansen was despatched to the rails.

Two more hours were required to reduce the eight to seven as Jesper Petersen was eliminated. Next to go was Morten Guldhammer followed by Roberto Romanello, Richard Loth, Yorane Kerignard and Morten Klein. In total the final heads up lasted a record eleven hours.

The EPT now moves onwards to Berlin which begins in a little over a week’s time.
