Colin McTaggart also had the luck of qualifying for the event without paying a penny and it is interesting to note that this is the second year that this tournament has been won by a Freeroll qualifier.

Collin McTaggart is 30 years old and comes from Ormskirk, a market town in Lancashire in the North of England. He said that it had been his goal to play in the Grosvenor UK Poker main event this year and that he had been delighted to win it. He pointed out the hisa only outlay had been the £30 or so that he had spent on petrol.

McTaggart collected the top prize of £57,700 along with an entry to the Champion of Champions Freeroll tournament which has a total prize pool of £150,000.

On the final table was last year’s winner Mike Ellis along with last year’s Champion of Champions winner Haitao Wu.

Finishing in second place was Anthony Crotty who collected £39,150, followed by Mike Ellis who won £14,950. There were cash prizes for the top ten finishers

The next event in Grosvenor UK Poker Tour schedule is in England. It will take place in the Grosvenor Victoria Casino, London from the 18th to the 28th March. The buy-in for this leg will be £1,500.

The Grosvenor UK Poker Tour is organised by Blue Square Poker and Grosvenor Casinos. It takes place throughout the UK and it combines real life and online poker. The main events are usually £1,000 buy-ins and last four days (though the London buy-in is £1,500). As well as the main event there are several side shows with buy ins starting at £100; though why not follow in the footsteps of McTaggart and qualify online for free.
