Rumours in the industry have highlighted bwin as the most interested gaming company and speculation has arisen as to when rather than whether bwin will make their move and buy the world famous World Poker Tour brand.

The World Poker Tour has experienced a difficult few years after being pitted against aggressive competitors in the space and the passing of the UIGEA which has resulted in significant financial losses. The current value of the brand is estimated to be a fraction of its highest value which was around $500 million.

CEO of the World Poker Tour, Steve Lipscomb recently explained  to the Wall Street Journal that discussions between companies interested in the brand had indeed taken place although he did not name bwin specifically as one of the potential buyers.

As one of the most high profile brands in the online gaming world, bwin are recognisably in a very strong position to buy the World Poker Tour brand and develop it alongside their other gaming platforms. Bwin currently takes approximately 300,000 bets every day with betting on over 90 different sports available on the bwin site.
