Harold Angle just about made through the first day of the event and by the end of it was down to his last $400, but on the second day, aided by a touch or early good luck, he managed to claw his was back into the game, into the cash and then to the final table where he was the oldest player.

Angle first took to poker in 1946 when he played in Ohio in a pool hall. Always a live player he has never played online and said that he was completely computer illiterate; he didn’t even know how to turn a computer on. He said that the three essential ingredients for being successful at poker were patience, a deep understanding of the game along with a touch of good luck.

He had enjoyed the support of his family. His wife, who is twenty years his junior, was there as were his two daughters and his son-in-law. He intends to share his prize money with them.

Retired for several years from a career as a show manager, Angle often whiles away his time playing poker at the Hard Rock Casino near he home in Florida and often considers that he is grandfather to the other players at the table.
