The tournament will take place in the Mayfair Hotel and will be filmed for television. The main event has a buy in of $5,300. There will be two starting days and the number of entrants is limited to forty.

Phil Ivey will certainly provide some strong competition. To date his tournament winnings amount to $13,100,000 of which over $5,200,000 come from WSOP events. He has eight WSOP bracelets though he is yet to win a major title. He is only 34 years old, so there is still plenty of time for him to do so.  He is a Full Tilt Poker professional and has won substantial sums online. His online winnings since 2007 are approximately $16,000,000. He also plays cash games in Las Vegas where his favourite casino is the Bellagio. In one famous session against Andy Beal he won $16,000,000 over three days.
Phil Ivey is also a modern day poker hero who has been called the Robin Hood of poker due to his philanthropy. He is a regular donator of funds to charities that support underprivileged children.
This year the London Poker Festival will feature five major events. These are the London Leg of the WPT, the European Poker Tour (EPT) London Leg, the World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE), Poker in the Park and the British Poker Awards.
